Art Gallery of Mississauga

  • "It has been inspiring to work with artist Christopher McLeod, educator Christine Rodrigues, and Corsair Public School. It is a delight to encounter a learning environment full of so many enthusiastic teachers and students, ready to dive into new ways of engaging with environmentally focused arts education and community initiatives. TD FEF has truly given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to all stakeholders to realize new potential in the community and to make a lasting impression, and begin new relationships to the environment for young minds. • Artist in residence: Christopher McLeod produces art that is environmentally minded. Often participatory, McLeod’s work helps his viewers engage with issues of sustainability and conservation in unexpected ways. Through this residency, McLeod shared his expertise on environment-based artworks and helped students produce their own pieces to build an outdoor classroom.
  • Environmental education: The curriculum-based and environmentally-themed art projects were produced by Corsair students. The pieces were then assembled through volunteer teams, which included TD employees. Students developed teamwork and creative problem-solving abilities, as well as a deeper connection to the natural world.
