This piece is a 4' x 5' poured acrylic on canvas painting. The series continues with a second portrait using the technique of pouring and swirling the paint directly onto the canvas in order to realize the complete image. This process of pouring the painting directly is a very visceral and physical experience that is at once controlled and uncontrolled. While attempts are made to instruct the acrylic into the proper locations and shapes, the swirling of individual unmixed colours and shades go beyond that which can be taught.

The canvas strikes you on two levels, the public and the intimate. Up close the relationship between the various shapes of paint and colours intrigue and excite. This closer look also reveals a detailed intertwining of analogous colours that in among themselves create a vibrant dancing composition. Step back into the public space and those separate compositions come together to reveal a portrait figure. The thick rich paint invites the viewer to engage the work both visually and physically.
